I think thistles are beautiful... and would love to be able to pick a big bouquet of them. There's just one problem, right? You can't touch them without getting pricked. A few thoughts come to mind about this life lesson from a purple flower.
A wolf in sheep's clothing.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
I Corinthians 10 :13 - The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.
Proverbs 31:30 - Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised.
What about you?
Can you think of another Bible verse or quote that might apply?
Happy Friday!
A lovely post and that flower looks very much like my hurricane lily! Wishing you a happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteYes, this is a passage that I quoted last year in a blog post that had a picture of a thistle plant. I also love to see the flowers of the thistle, and would never attempt to pick a bouquet of them.

15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing,
but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.
16 You will know them by their fruits.
Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?
17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.
18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.
19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them."
Matthew 7:15-20
