taste:
- *to perceive or recognize as if by the sense of taste
- *to become acquainted with by experience
But, if you'll notice the definitions I chose have nothing to do with actually taking a bite of food and savoring the "taste".
I've had the above verse of scripture on my mind so much lately and I actually thought it was because of my struggle with weight and food issues. That is something I struggle with on a daily basis, but I think God planted that verse in my head for a different reason. When I looked up and read Psalm 34 in it's entirety, (you can read it here) then I understood more of what God was trying to ever so sweetly speak to my heart. Just like my physical hunger (which isn't true hunger, but a craving) for that certain food.....
again, chocolate.....
I should have an even greater craving for His word. I need to remember what He's done for me in the past and realize that He's still the same God and will continue to care for me in the present and future.
The verse goes along perfectly with my word for 2017, MORE.
It's also a reminder of the HOPE we have in Him alone!

Very holy thoughts clothed beautifully!
ReplyDeleteWow! This was a wonderful way to start my morning! Oh TASTE and see that the Lord is Good!! Yes, HE is!! We are so honored and privileged to know Him this intimately...we can savor His presence in our lives every day just by feasting on His Word. I love this!
ReplyDeleteNow, stop talking about food...I have to go to the lab this morning for fasting lab work...so no food for me for awhile!!!! :)
Another great post, Deb!!! Have a beautiful day friend.
ReplyDeleteMore of Jesus...tasting and seeing just how good His Word is...learning more of Him...love it! Thank you, Ms. Deb, for today's word "taste"!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this insight today!
ReplyDelete'taste' 'more' of Him!
ReplyDeleteTaste and see the goodness of the Lord!!
ReplyDeleteReminds me of an old Lanny Wolfe or Gaither song.....
ReplyDeleteI'm not trying to find just some new frame of mind
That will change my old point of view
For I've been through it all deep inside nothing's changed, I'm not new
I'm not seeking a gift or emotional lift but one thing I'm longing to do
Is to lift up my cup and let you fill it up with just you.
More of you -- more of you
I've had all but what I need - just more of you
Of things I've had my fill and yet I hunger still
Empty and bare, Lord hear my prayer for more of you.
I have searched all around in the husks that abound
But I find no nourisment there
Now my strength's almost gone and I feel the pull of despair
Yet my thrst drives me on and I stumble along
Over ground so barren and dry
For the spring's just ahead, Living Water, Lord, fill me I cry.
