As Pappy and I are in the Book of Proverbs as we're reading the Bible through, we've came across the word "prudence" several times. Each time I've commented on that word (asked Pappy what it meant exactly). Again last night, the word kept popping up, so I just figured that would be what I needed to focus on today. Plus, Pappy said maybe I'd remember the meaning if I did some research on it. He knows my memory is starting to go in my old....um, older age! ;-)
Definition of prudence:
cautiousness
synonyms:
wisdom, good judgment, common sense
"We must expect reverses, even defeats.
They are sent to teach us wisdom and prudence,
to call forth greater energies,
and to prevent our falling into greater disasters.
~~~~Robert E. Lee~~~
"Remember not only to say the right thing in the right place,
but far more difficult still, to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment."
~~~Ben Franklin~~~
One of my all time favorite books is Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan. One of the "characters" he wrote about was "Prudence". I think the best way for me to remember the meaning is to think of it as common sense.....
discernment......
something that comes from the Lord!
