{ Wednesday's Words - Love Language..... }

Do you know what your "love language" is?
I definitely know what mine is!
Several years ago, I read Gary Chapman's book, "The 5 Love Languages", and knew from the beginning what category I fit in.  You can have more than one, a primary and a secondary.

If you don't already know, but would like to find out, just click on the picture below.....
("the 5 Love Languages" )
It's not difficult.....
all you've  gotta do is answer a few questions.
Leave me a comment letting me know what you found out, or what your "love language" is, if you already know!

Here are my results:

 12 - Words of Affirmation
   7 - Acts of Service
6 - Quality Time
    3 - Physical Touch
    2 - Receiving Gifts

{ Birthday blessings }

I want to wish this beautiful woman a very happy birthday.
What a blessing she's ALWAYS been in our lives.
She's kind, loving, giving and the most selfless person you could ever meet.

She's a wife, a Momma to our four grandchildren and an awesome daughter,
but most importantly a child of God!

She put a pink chalk streak in her hair.....
I'm sure to please our grand-girl!

I just HOPE she knows how very much she's loved.

Happy Birthday, Sweet Girl!

Proverbs 31:29
Many daughters have done well,
But you excel them all.

{ Monday, Monday.....}

Today has been quite hectic.
I've still got a bunch of stuff to mark off my "to-do list".....
but you know what?
If it doesn't get done, it's not the end of the world.

I'm gonna embrace my life just the way it is and realize like my Momma always told me growing up.....
"it won't always be this way.....
"nothing ever stays the same"!

HOPE everybody is having an awesome Monday!

{ Silly Saturday }

Humorous, but still full of truth!

Our grand-kiddos get limited time on electronic devices and television,
and I understand why!
(maybe Nannie needs to take heed....;-)

{ Friday Fotos }

It's been a long time dream of mine to live where I can look out and see God's gorgeous handiwork in the sunrises and sunsets.  Alas, it's just a dream though (although, it is a desire of my heart).  In the meantime, it's awesome to have family and friends who send me pictures of those they're able to witness where they live.  Earlier this week, I received pics from our daughter and my friend, Dawn, both in the same evening of a beautiful sunset.  They live about 2 hours apart, yet it was the same sun that God created.....
the one He created in Genesis 1:14-17.
(click to read the account)

Sunset at our daughter and son-in-law's house

My friend, Dawn sent me the last two pics just a few minutes apart.

Simply WOW, right?

Psalm 19:1-4
The heavens proclaim the glory of God.
The skies display his craftsmanship.
Day after day they continue to speak;
night after night they make Him known.
They speak without a sound or word;
   their voice is never heard.
Yet their message has gone throughout the earth,
    and their words to all the world.
God has made a home in the heavens for the sun.

Happy Friday!

HOPE your weekend is awesomely blessed!

Have fun.....
stay safe.....
enjoy life!!!!

Respect and Honor.....

I love being a child of God.
 There's nothing like having a personal relationship with the Lord......
even when that requires reprimand.

Yep.....
God's been doing a work in my heart this week (AGAIN) this time about showing respect and honor.
Seems like those words keep popping up in conversation and in my scripture reading and God obviously wants me to "ponder" on them.....
then, this image showed up on Instagram last night just like He was asking.....

"Do you get it, Deb?
Are you listening?
Sit up and take notice!
Pay attention."

We never get too old to learn and we're going to keep on growing and maturing in our faith as a Christian (at least we're supposed to). In my case that must be going to be until the day I die.....;-)

Romans 12:9a-10
Don't just pretend to love others.
Really love them.
Love each other with  genuine affection,
and take delight in honoring each other.

HOPE your Thursday is awesomely blessed!!!

{ Wednesday's Word - Autumn }

I heard our local weather forecaster say yesterday evening that autumn would arrive at 4:21 AM.
How in the world is that even determined?

No matter what you might call it.....
autumn, or fall.....
it's the best season of ALL!
(at least for me)

I'm so looking forward to......
the gorgeous colors that God paints
cooler temps
all things pumpkin
warm sweaters
jeans
boots
that first pot of chili
a trip to the apple orchard
a drive through Cades Cove

Happy Fall, Y'All!!!

{ Parliament on the Porch }

  Did you know that a flock of owls is called a parliament?  I had to look that up.  But, what better theme for me to use in the fall decorations for our front porch?!?!?  A few weeks ago, I got in the mood to spruce up the porch and here's what I came up with......

I made two of these pillows from place mats I found at Dollar General Store.  Just take out a bit of the seam in a bottom corner, stuff with fiberfill, and sew back up!  Easy peasy.

This little owlie said "Happy Fall" when I received him as a gift.   I printed the "Welcome" onto a printable burlap sheet and cut it out and glued it on.
Now, I can use him any time of year!

I haven't taken the time to paint the little table yet,
but that's on my "to do" list.  I got it the last time I went to my Mamaw's house with Mom.
And, speaking of Mamaw.....
the philodendron was in a dish garden that someone sent when she passed away in 2011.
You wouldn't believe how long it is now.
I just keep kind of wrapping it around itself!  I've had the pumpkin for many years and the owlies came from my sweet friend, Dawn.

I found this old frame when I was doing some cleaning in the basement and gave it a coat of chalk paint.  I plan to add some "antiquing wax" to it.  Another thing on my "to do" list!  I attached a wreath I made a few years ago to it and hung it on the storm door.

I found this flag at Dollar General Store last year......
isn't it just the cutest! It's very convenient that there's a DGS right down the hill from our house.

Ecclesiastes 3:1
To every thing there is a season,
and a time to every purpose under the heaven.....

What season is your favorite time of year?
I'll have to say that fall is mine.
Well, except for all the leaves that we have to rake.

HOPE everybody has a great Tuesday!

{ My pity pot }

Do any of you ever sit down on your pity pot and feel sorry for yourself and refuse to get off because things just continually seem to go wrong?  Well, I'm gonna be honest here and just admit that I've been sitting on mine a bit recently because of.....
well, things that really don't amount to a hill of beans compared to what others are going through.
I have some friends at church who are TRULY struggling with health issues which include dialysis, waiting on a new kidney and possible loss of eye sight due to glaucoma and diabetes.  Then, I get this e-mail requesting prayer because somebody has been given just a short amount of time to live.  I cannot even imagine what she and her family are going through.  I mean I cried when I read the e-mail and had chills and also felt immense conviction for being so prideful and self-absorbed for the trivial things I waste time worrying about.  I also realized that it was simply Satan who put me on that pot and was keeping me there.

Please pray for these friends who are in such desperate need of strength and courage and peace and comfort.

Luke 4:8
And Jesus answered and said unto him,
Get thee behind me, Satan:
for it is written,
Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God,
and him only shalt thou serve.

I Corinthians 10:13
 The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience.
And God is faithful.
He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand.
When you are tempted,
he will show you a way out so that you can endure.

Not a very good picture that was taken right before I began an on-line weight loss challenge a year ago.....

Recently.....

Forty-three pounds since this time last year and over sixty since my highest weight.
To GOD be the glory because I truly give Him ALL the credit.
This is the longest period of time that I can remember that I've been able to lose and keep the weight off......
and again, that's totally a GOD-thing!

I Corinthians 10:31
So whether you eat or drink,
or whatever you do,
do it all for the glory of God.

Benefits:
feeling better physically
increased stamina
pressure taken off my knees
getting more exercise
better self esteem
(still working on this one)
lowered BP and triglycerides
eating healthier
drinking LOTS of water

Downfall:
losing weight ages an already old(er) woman!

I've just gotta realize that the good outweighs the bad.

Psalm 103:5
He fills my life with good things.
    My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!

HOPE everybody has an awesome weekend!

Have fun.....
stay safe.....
enjoy life!!!!
