Proverbs 16:31
Gray hair is a crown of glory;
it is gained by living a godly life.
it is gained by living a godly life.
I've gotta admit, that I'm not sure getting older is what I had expected. But, then, I don't know what I had in mind when I would think ahead to my gOLDen years. All I can really say is that one of the greatest blessings that God gave me was when He prompted me to quit my job. It's allowed me (and even caused me because of circumstances) to dig deeper into my Bible. Now, I will NEVER claim to be a Bible scholar. I'll leave that up to others who can recite scripture and truly know Bible history. I do believe that God gives each of us certain talents and gifts and that includes Biblical knowledge. Some are historians and others are life application and there are probably other "categories" that could be listed. I fall so deep into the life application. I have to be able to apply what I read to my own life, or share it with somebody else regarding a situation they're going through. That's where the spiritual gift of "prophecy" shows itself!!!
Job 12:12
Wisdom belongs to the aged,
and understanding to the old.
What about y'all?
For those of you are more "mature" (I'll never be fully mature until I reach glory), are your gOLDen years what you pictured?
Do you find yourself digging deeper and deeper into God's Word to glean what He has to say about your life?
Are you able to share what you learn with others (hence this blog)?
Psalm 71:18
Now that I am old and gray,
do not abandon me, O God.
Let me proclaim your power to this new generation,
your mighty miracles to all who come after me.
do not abandon me, O God.
Let me proclaim your power to this new generation,
your mighty miracles to all who come after me.
And, are you, like me, embracing this season of your blessed life?
Breathing in Grace,
Well....I am 48--gray hair and all...I have learned though, there is nothing greater than opening the Word and studying it and understanding it more. It seems, since I have gotten older, it does come much easier to understand or I have an AHHA moment. Growing old(er) is most def. not for sissies, smiles. Blessings (great post, thank you)
ReplyDeleteI get so very excited when God speaks to me thru His Word. That happened in church yesterday morning and I looked at my husband and said, "Are you hearing this?", because it went exactly along with something we just went thru!!! God is so awesome!
DeleteDeb, since I retired I have drawn so much closed to the Lord, and in my old age I feel Him drawer me closer and closer. He is good to us, more than we can even imagine. I see Him everywhere and in all things. I think that comes with 'oldness'. So much I would love to talk with you about, how I wish we lived closer. I have a hard time putting some things into words on paper. Have a great week! God is Good!
ReplyDeleteMy hearts desire is to be able to sit and talk with you for hours..... we have so much in common, especially our love for our Lord. I understand what your heart is trying to speak. Its just sometimes so difficult to put into words our relationship with Him. Love you, my Friend!
