I came across the word "Canaan" recently while reading a passage in Genesis where Abram gave Lot his choice of land and Lot took what he thought was the best and Abram settled in the land of Canaan. Of everything I read, that word "Canaan" just seemed to jump off the page at me.
So, I did a bit of research.....
So, I did a bit of research.....
The root word that Canaan is derived from "kana" means:
humbled, subdued, brought down or into subjection
Living in the land of Canaan = reaching a blissful state of humility
And, one resource stated it might have meant "the land of purple".....
now being a lover of PURPLE, is it any wonder the word stood out to me...;-)
If you've known me for very long, via personally, or this blog.....
then, you know that a song came to mind, too.
I ♥ this song.
It brings back such sweet memories of the church I grew up in and singing it in the youth choir.

Did y'all clap and sing along.....
Neat study on the word! Love that song!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, it is a clapping song for sure and a pat the old feet. Though these days I struggle to do both at the same time! LOL! Great post. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteLoved reading here today, Deb! Thanks so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHi Deb! What a lovely, peppy song! And I didn't know about the origins of Canaan, but it sure makes sense. Abram was such a humble guy, obedient and even gave over first choice of land. Thanks for the insight :)
ReplyDeleteWednesday blessings,
