Dragging me.....

 .....kicking and screaming!!!

That's what I thought of when I read a devotional recently....
....and also this quote on a friend's blog....

"People make things complicated because they do not want to do them.
Stop complicating things and just do them."

The devotional seemed to be describing me to a T.....

You know the difference between taking a glad, loving, joy-springing child with you along a way, when the child anticipates each direction, accepts naturally each decision as to each turning - and the child who resists, and, rebellious, has to be forced, even though in its quieter moments it may say, "Yes, I do want to go with you.  I cannot be left alone, but I hate this way."  It is not the way, but the loving rejoicing in the way and the guidance, that matters with My disciples.  You are ready for the guidance, but you do not rejoice as you should, in the little daily stones of the way.

God recently presented me with an opportunity to do something totally out of my comfort zone, but without a shadow of a doubt it came from HIM.  I've found myself "kicking and screaming" and questioning and with so many "what if's?".   I've come to a conclusion....something that I already knew but had to acknowledge....and confess....and repent of....that my fear of the "unknown" was much bigger than my faith in God taking care of me thru the journey.   See....there's that fear factor once again rearing it's ugly head!!!

These verses of scripture seem to describe exactly what God is doing with me.....pruning off of me the things that He cannot use so that I can grow and be more useful for Him!!!

God is really working on me in this area of my life....and I have to admit....I've felt more peace in the last few weeks than I've felt in quite some time!!!
I think I can pretty much sum it all up in one word.....
.....SURRENDER!!!
Giving up my selfish desires.....and giving in to HIS guidance.....
....isn't that what this life is all about, anyway?!?!
Now that's truly LIVING!!!

To HIM be all the glory and honor and praise!!!

In HIS Most Precious Love....and with mine!!!

Blessings,

Deb

After I wrote this and scheduled it to post, I was reading one of Liz Curtis Higgs' books, Slightly Bad Girls of the Bible (if you haven't read her books, then you are missing out!!!).  She made a statement that in the KJV of the Bible that the words "fear not" appear about seventy-five times.  Don't you agree that God knew His children were going to need to be encouraged in this area of their lives?!?!
Especially this child!!

  2. Enjoyed this post today Deb. FEAR has a way of lifting up that ugly heard for sure and most of the time for me it is when I least expect it! I have taught several of Liz Curtis Higgs studies. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  5. I relate to this post very much. Recently I heard two pastors use this to define FEAR: False Evidence Appearing Real. Isn't that great. I am hanging on to that one!
