Have you ever taken a "test" to determine your spiritual gift? I did, several years ago....and found out that mine is "mercy"....or, so I thought. Pappy and I just completed a class where we were asked to take a spiritual gift assessment....and was I ever surprised to find that mine is actually prophesy....with a secondary gift of mercy.
"Prophesy"....that kinda sounds scary to me!!!
I told somebody, jokingly, that it was Mom's fault for naming me "Debra"!!!
;-)
But, as I did a bit of research and read some of the qualities that go along with prophesy....
I realized that Jeremiah 29:11 came about because of that spiritual gift!!!

Does it mean I'm a "prophet"?
Absolutely not!!!
It simply means that I can't help but profess the name of Jesus....it's a vital part of who I am!!!
And....HE made me that way!!!
And....HE made me that way!!!
Jeremiah 20:9
But if I say I’ll never mention the Lord
or speak in His name,
His word burns in my heart like a fire.
It’s like a fire in my bones!
I am worn out trying to hold it in!
I can’t do it!

HOPE your Tuesday is terrific,
Sweet Reader!!!
In His Most Precious Love....and with mine!!!
Oh, what a great blog this time. Debra is also a very nice name. I called my daughter Deborah. The way you explain what prophecy is ... I like that.
ReplyDeleteThat is so wonderful about your gifts, we should all be aware of what we have as our God given gifts, and use them...
ReplyDeleteI have the gift of listening to others and compassion, along with my knitting!
If "tests" can be trusted, I have a similar gift-mix to you, Debra. I was quite surprised to find mercy mixed in with mine. I can be quite harsh in my estimation of people some time. But I do have "flashes" of mercy for some people that almost make my heart feel like it is going to burst wide open...
ReplyDeleteProphecy - having a keen awareness of current events and the cultural implications of not following God's Word &being passionate about speaking and applying God's word to the culture around me with a passion for repentance and a (re)turning to God - this makes my heart beat strongly, too.
I'd love to take a spiritual gift assessment and figure out what mine truly is. What an awesome thing to find out :)
ReplyDeleteOh, you definitely have the gift of prophecy....your blog draws people because of the joy and hope in Jesus you share with others! I love getting my morning boost by coming here! God bless you as you share the gifts you have been given.
ReplyDeleteI taught a class on Spiritual gifts once. Loved the class. I think some of our ladies was SHOCKED! Ha! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI especially liked it when you said...
ReplyDelete"It simply means that I can't help but profess the name of Jesus....it's a vital part of who I am!!!"
Such a true statement! HUGS!
Great Blog, Deb. I have been accredited with various gifts over the years. But it is something I am never quite sure about. However whatever the Lord wants to give me I hope I will recognize and use for His Glory, as I am sure you do.
