A girl's best friends....

.....are sometimes just some glue and a couple cans of spray paint!!!

I've saved up some things that I've been working on to share with y'all today....can you tell I've been a busy girl?!?!
 So....let's get started!!!

Don't you absolutely adore the Dollar Tree?!?
Oh, me, too!!!
Here are a couple of "hurricanes" that I made....using materials I got there....kinda stole borrowed this idea from Ms. Allison @ House of Hepworths.

I actually didn't use that glue....found that E-6000 works better for glass.
I glued the taper candle holder to the hurricane and added rocks from the Dollar Tree.  I had the candles, raffia, and the leaves on hand....so I just tied the raffia around the hurricane....hot glued some leaves together and stuck them underneath the raffia....so that I can change it out for the seasons!

Who's afraid of color?!?!?
Well....I have been most of my life, it seems.
Lately, I've decided that I need a few "pops" of color, since most of our house is pretty neutral.  Don't ask me why....but I decided that I needed PURPLE in my kitchen....after all, with the grape theme in there....didn't that just make sense?!?!?
I'll let you decide....
This is the breadbox in the kitchen.
(please ignore the dust on top of it, please!!!)
It never holds bread....actually it's where I stash my dark chocolate to hide it from the boys!
;)
I taped off the copper insert.....
....used one of the best paints on the market....in my humble opinion, of course.....
.....and after applying a coat of glaze....here she is in her new home!!!
It's amazing to me the difference glazing makes....if the color is too bright....adding the glaze will mute the color and make it look a bit "antique"!

This is a little foot stool with a hinged top....sorry I didn't get a before pic....I get a bit excited with the mood hits to revamp something!!!
I had covered the cushioned top a few years ago, but decided it needed a bit of an update to match our "new" bedroom.  So....I spray painted the stool with Krylon (of course)....Bahama Sea....one of my new favorite colors....glazed it....and recovered the top with the same red toile that I used in the memo board makeover.

And....here she is sitting on my side of the bed.

And....remember this green armoire....

.....that got painted red and put in the bedroom to hold my sweaters?
 Well....it got painted....again!!!
This time with a version of the Bahama Sea....then, once again I used my trusty glaze on it....and I LOVE it now!!!
There's something about furniture looking old and antique....that I just adore!!!
Could it be because I'm getting old myself?!?!
Naahhh!!!!
;)

Happy Friday, Everybody....hope you have a fantastic weekend!!!

In His Most Precious Love....and with mine!!!

  3. Ooohhh, I LOVE IT!! All of it!! The colors are gorgeous. I've been meaning to paint a couple of old pieces around the house. Did you have to do any prepping like sanding or paint thinners? That part I never like. Gotta get hubby to do that. Just wondering, especially how you took the red armour to the light bahama sea. Was the armour sprayed too?

Okay, I'm sounding like 60 questions here but I'm really interested in knowing. Hope you stop by my place.

Thanks for sharing, Deb. Blessings to you.

  4. I can't wait to make your dollar tree gem as soon as I can! I love it! I didn't realize what a difference the glaze makes on your painted pieces but WOW! They are amazingly beautiful! Great job!

  6. I love your candle holder you made but if I could make a suggestion...instead of beach rocks..which is still pretty full of summer you could use acorns OR even coffee beans....those look sooo de-lish in the vases that's what I have

  7. Your really good at restoring furniture. I've always been interested in that because it's cool how you can take something that looks old and outdated and make it beautiful. I really like the armoire and the hurricane. Thanks for stopping by my blog and becoming a follower. I really appreciate it. It just created a new blog a would love if you could stop by and check it out.
