The Mission Field

I had supper Monday night with a sweet friend and we discussed the fact that back before she ever married she had wanted to be a foreign missionary.  Due to circumstances in her life, that dream didn't come true....but....
....due to circumstances in her life....
....that's exactly what she's doing now.  Her mission work isn't on foreign soil....but right here at home, telling her story and sharing what the Lord has brought her thru!!

As we sat talking, I couldn't help but wonder how many of us have a mission and don't even realize it.  There are a couple of ladies in our church who send cards....birthday, anniversary, get well, sympathy....they're always sending a card to brighten up someone's day.  I wonder if they realize that's a mission statement for them....showing the love of God to others just thru that simple act of kindness in sending a little bit of cheer in the mail?

As many of you know, I don't "work"....not outside the home. Every now and then, I'll get to the point that I wonder if I should get a job....and I pray that if it's God's will that He will send me the "job" of His choosing.   So far....each time that I've prayed that prayer.....I'm sent something that has nothing to do with actually working for pay....but something to do for HIM!!!  Someone will come to me with a need....if nothing more than a shoulder to cry on....and I know that I wouldn't have been available if I were working outside the home.
And....you know what....I've decided.....what better work than what we do for HIM....and for HIS GLORY!!!

So....until God tells me otherwise....I'll keep on writing my blog....with HIS help....and being available to people who need somebody to lend an ear....because.....for now and possibly for the rest of my life.....this is my "mission field".

I love these verses of scripture in the Book of Isaiah....and each of us....who claim the blood of Jesus and His saving grace....can relate to these verses.  Never....ever....think that you're life is worthless....that you're "good for nothing".
Believe you me....I've felt the same way....even repeated those exact words....but my precious Lord and Savior....well....He tells me otherwise!!!

Isaiah 61:1-2 (NLT)
The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me,
for the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor.  He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed.
He has sent me to tell those who mourn
that the time of the Lord’s favor has come,
and with it, the day of God’s anger against their enemies.

Edited to add:
I listen to the K-Love radio station.
On Facebook this morning, this was included in their daily post (after this had already posted):
"In our worst things in life, God gives us our Greatest Mission."
Just another confirmation from my precious Lord and Savior!!!
Ain't God good?
Oh, yes HE is!!!

Wednesday Blessings to each of you!!!

In His Most Precious Love....and with mine!!!

  1. I believe we all do "mission" work. As you have said here by being their with a listening ear.

A caring heart goes a long way, and GOD is the only one who can give us a caring heart!

    Have a blessed day!

  4. To daily be available to Him, ready to go or stay, speak or listen, write or sing, give, pray.... whatEVER! This is our privilege. This IS "mission".

I pray that God continues to bless you & all who come across your path.

  5. Yes, it is amazing the little things we can do for the Lord. Yesterday, morning after reading this it seem God directed me to send little notes to church memembers. He lead me to exactly who he wanted me to send them to. Before I knew I sent three cards out.

  6. I'm so glad I read this. I LOVE to send out cards, especially cards that are for no particular reason and are sent just out-of-the-blue. However, after I became sick, I started sending them less and less. I think it was because 'I' didn't feel happy or encouraged, so it was hard for me to send them to others. However, now as time has passed by and I am learning to live this new 'me', I think it is time for me to start sending them out again.

Thanks for giving me the word that I needed to 'hear' today.

May the Lord our God bless you as you continue to bless AND encourage others. :o)
