Weekly Recap #26 - Psalm 111-150

We finally made it thru the Book of Psalms.
If you read my blog this past Thursday....then, you'll know how much Psalm 139 spoke to my heart.  It seems like almost each time we enter into a new book of the Bible during our "read the Bible thru in a year"....it just goes right along with what's going on in my life at the time.
Nope....that's not a coincidence....or luck....
....it's not odd, it's God!!

Just like I have each week that we've recapped Psalms....I want to share some verses that meant a lot to me as I read them.....
Psalm 111:10 - Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true wisdom.  All who obey His commandments will grow in wisdom.
Praise Him forever.

I had to chuckle when I read this one.....
Psalm 114:3 - The Read Sea saw them coming and hurried out of their way!  The water of the Jordan River turned away.

This verse goes along with the blog I wrote last week week and titled it "To God Be the Glory".....
Psalm 115:1 - Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to your name goes all the glory for your unfailing love and faithfulness.

These verses helped to explain how I feel about our Lord...the same as the psalmist....
Psalm 116:1-2, 5, 12 - I love the Lord because He hears my voice and my prayer for mercy.  Because He bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath.  How kind the Lord is!  How good He is!  So merciful, this God of ours!  What can I offer the Lord for all He has done for me?

Others will often let us down....but not God....
Psalm 118:6, 8 - The Lord is for me, so I will have no fear.  What  can mere people do to me?  It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in people.

An"oldie but goodie"....
Psalm 118:24 - This is the day the Lord has made.  We will rejoice and be glad in it.

You know how I love acrostics....well, the entire Psalm 119 is an acrostic, containing 22 stanzas, one for each successive letter of the Hebrew alphabet.  That was just so very interesting to me!!
These verses are part of the "pledge to the Bible".....
Psalm 119:11, 105- I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.  Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.

One of my prayers to the Lord....
Psalm 119:65, 66 - You have done many good things for me, Lord, just as you promised.  I believe in your commands;  now teach me good judgment and knowledge.

Another one that sort of made me smile....because it reminded me of a "drama queen".  Don't you find it difficult to understand why some people just want to argue and squabble and stir up trouble?
Psalm 120:6-7 - I am tired of living among people who hate peace.  I search for peace; but when I speak of peace, they want war.
Psalm 133:1 - How wonderful and pleasant when brothers live together in harmony!

Yet another very familiar verse....
Psalm 122:1 - I was glad when they said to me, "let us go to the house of the Lord".

Amen to this one....
Psalm 127:3 - Children are a gift from the Lord;  they are a reward from Him.

Of course....I loved everything about Psalm 139....and you can click here to re-read my post about how it spoke to me this past week about my problem with depression.

I want to end my summary of the Book of Psalms with these verses.  They spoke to me and sum up a lot of what I feel it means to be a child of God....
Psalm 130:3-5 - Lord, if you kept a record of our sins, who, O Lord, could ever survive?  But you offer forgiveness, that we might learn to fear you.  I am counting on the Lord; yes, I am counting on him.  I have put my hope in His word.

Saturday Blessings to each of 'ya!!!

In His Most Precious Love....and with mine!!!
