.......of wedded bliss!!!
I heard a man say one time that he and his wife had NEVER had an argument and they had been married about 40 years at the time he made that statement.
If his words were true.....then, here are a few things that would have to take place.....
#1 - they never spoke to one another
#1 - they never spoke to one another
#2 - she never suffered from PMS....or menopause
#3 - they were both perfect people
#4 - one or the other ALWAYS gave in to the other
#3 - they were both perfect people
#4 - one or the other ALWAYS gave in to the other
#5 - he wasn't telling the truth
I'm going with #5.....because.....how can anybody live with another human being....day in....and day out....and never have a disagreement?
Pappy and I have been married 33 years today....and I love him more today than I did the day we married.
Well.....maybe not more.....but in a different way.
You know when you first get married, everything is all lovey-dovey....and oh, so passionate? Then, as years go by and you go thru things that test your marriage. For instance.....even though we love our children.....having babies can be a stressful time for a marriage when you've been used to devoting all your time to one another.....and all of a sudden this little tiny creature demands all of your time and attention.
Other examples....loss of a job.....loss of income.....death of a parent.....health problems.....all of these things can take a toll on a relationship.
In the long run.....all the struggles that we've gone thru have helped to strengthen our marriage.....our bond.....and make us have a deeper love and respect for one another.

We were 22 when we married.....and even though we were both already Christians.....I don't think either of us prayed that we were marrying the "right" person.....at least I know I didn't.
I'm just glad that God knew we were right for each other!!!
But....back to my original thought about couples having disagreements....I've made this statement about the early years of our marriage.....if we had not been Christians.....and had not been in church....and most importantly....if we didn't have God in the center of our marriage.....then, when those stressful times came.....we might not be celebrating our 33rd wedding anniversary.
Marriage Takes Three
Marriage takes three to be complete;
It's not enough for two to meet.
They must be united in love
By love's Creator, God above.
Then their love will be firm and strong;
Able to last when things go wrong,
Because they've felt God's love and know
He's always there, He'll never go.
And they have both loved Him in kind
With all the heart and soul and mind
And in that love they've found the way
To love each other every day.
A marriage that follows God's plan
Takes more than a woman and a man.
It needs a oneness that can be
Only from Christ-
Marriage takes three.

I Corinthians 13:4-7 (NLT)
Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.
I love you, Pappy.....Happy Anniversary!!!

A very true post. I'm not married - but watching my parents and other godly parents - I see their struggles and I'm glad to be able to see how they got through hard times. I'm glad to be able to say that my parents are together - and their relationship is strong.
