....but words....
....can never harm me!!!
I totally disagree with this little ditty we used to recite as kids....because.....there is so much power in words and how we use them!!!
A good friend of our family passed away last week and we attended his funeral Friday night. I had known this man all of my life. He was a deacon in the church I was brought up in. He was a very kind man and truly a man of God. After the death of my own Dad and my father-in-law less than six months later....Jess sort of adopted Mr. Eulis as her Papaw. We found out Friday night just how much he cared about her, too. His brothers told her that he talked about her often. In other words....he spoke kind things about my daughter to others.
After the service, I spent some time catching up with old friends I hadn't seen in quite some time....just hugging and chatting and letting each other know how much we missed seeing one another....and how as we get older....it seems the only time we get to see one another is at a funeral....which is kinda sad in itself!!
A lady came up to me as we were heading out the door of the church....and told me how much she missed me....and how she always enjoyed my teaching in Sunday school. I don't think anybody all night said anything more profound to me. It was probably at least 10 years ago when I taught that class....but she remembered....and God blessed me thru her kind words!!!
So...you know how sometimes we think nobody's listening....nobody is paying any attention....so what's the use....why don't we just give up?
Just remember....there is somebody out there taking notice....watching us....and remembering things that we do and say....for the glory of God!!!
Proverbs 18:21 (NLT)
The tongue can bring death or life....
Proverbs 16:24 (NLT)
Kind words are like honey—
sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.
Proverbs 12:25 (NLT)
Worry weighs a person down;
an encouraging word cheers a person up.
Remember one of my favorite quotes:
Be kinder than necessary because everybody you meet is fighting some kind of battle.
Blessings to you!!!
