Remember when we were in school and learned that the definition of a verb is any word that shows action? When you think of the word "love"....do you ever consider it a verb...or, a noun....and just consider love as an emotion?
True love....is a verb....because true love should involve some kind of action on our part!!!
Wouldn't you agree that the ULTIMATE verse of love....
is John 3:16???
John 3:16 (KJV)
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
This verse is simply saying that God loved us so very much that He "gave" (a verb) us His only Son!!! God showed (v) His love for us by taking (v) action...proving (v) His love for us by sending (v) Jesus to die for our sins!!! Jesus' showed (v) His love by dying (v) on the cross to pay our sin debt...one that we could have never been able to pay ourselves!! John 14:15 (KJV)
If ye love me, keep my commandments.
If ye love me, keep my commandments.
Jesus is telling His disciples (and that includes us today)....that if we love Him, we will keep his commandments. This requires us doing something....showing action....getting involved....teaching, singing, playing a musical instrument, praying, attending church, fellowshipping, worshipping, reading our Bible....all of these words are verbs, and they show us doing something.....doing something for God!!
These are a few of the lyrics from the DC Talk song....Luv is a Verb:
Back in the day there was a man
Who stepped out of heaven and He walked the land
He delivered to the people an eternal choice
With a heart full of luv and the truth in His voice
Gave up His life so that we may live
How much more luv could the Son of God give?
Here is the example that we oughtta be matchin
Cause luv is a word that requires some action
So.....when you hear the word "love"....don't just think of it as an emotion....think of it as taking action to show your love...to prove your love, devotion, and admiration....especially to God!!!
In His Most Precious Love....and with mine!!!
