Chalkboard Makeover

I'm linking up with Melissa at 320 Sycamore showcasing chalkboard ideas!!!
I know I'm a little late....but better late than never....to join:

Metamorphosis Monday sponsored by Susan at

Here's my transformation of a patriotic chalkboard.....

.....from this.....

.....to this.......

I paid less than a dollar for the chalkboard at an outlet store on our little excursion to Etowah a couple of months ago. It had little wooden stars on it that I had already removed prior to the pic. I sanded it down....painted it brown....applied a crackle medium....let it dry....painted the cream over the crackle....then aged it a bit with some watered down brown paint, and sanding it in a few places. I applied scrapbook paper to wooden letters and hot glued them on....tied the top with some ribbon.....also tied a piece of ribbon around a piece of chalk....and....VOILA.....it now has a new home on my pantry door!!!

Blessings,
