I love, love, love sayings....old ones, newer ones....haven't I mentioned that a couple...hundred...times already???
I came across this one and had to adopt it, too:
"What others think of you is none of your business"!!!
Don't you just love it???
Doesn't it make you think???
Am I the only person who thinks she thinks waayyy too much????
Anywho....this one really set my mind to racing!!!
I've ALWAYS worried about what others think of me...or, are saying about me, or, or, or!!
Get my drift???
This trait is very much thanks to my Mom....and Ms. Jess has carried on the tradition, I'm sorry to admit!!!
Don't you agree that all of us want to be liked and loved and nice things said about us?
Of course we do!!!
But...where do we draw the line???
Where does just wanting to be liked end....and it becoming an obsession to the point of us
"worrying ourselves to death"???
Do you realize that the only perfect person who ever walked on the face of the earth had people who didn't like Him???
Actually, a lot of people hated Him.
I don't think anybody has ever hated me....at least I sure hope not. I'm not nearly as bad about this as when I was younger...caring what others think, I mean...because....I've come to realize in my old(er) age....that I'm different...and so are you.
We are not always going to agree on everything.
Does this mean that I totally dislike you because we don't agree???
Why, now no
(my Mammie used to say this)
There's another little saying...."let's agree to disagree".
So...let's all realize that God made us different for a reason.
He wants us to all love one another....and be as kind and nice as possible...remember:
"you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar"!
My Mom used to say,
"you're supposed to love everybody, but that doesn't mean you have to like their ways"!!!
Let's all try not to waste too much time worrying about what others think...because there's another old saying....
"when they're talking about you, they're letting somebody else rest".
So...may I leave you with a famous saying by Abraham Lincoln: "You can please some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of the time". Deuteronomy 1:23 (KJV)
And the saying pleased me well..... (can you even believe this is in the Bible...even if it is taken a bit out of context...it's still there....I love it!!!)
And the saying pleased me well..... (can you even believe this is in the Bible...even if it is taken a bit out of context...it's still there....I love it!!!)
Happy, happy 2nd day of the week!!!
In His Most Precious Love...and with mine!!!
Good Marvelous Monday Morning!
ReplyDeleteOnce again you took your Hammer and hit this Nail on the head! :0)
My pastor has been instructed us when we begin to desire to be an expressed image of Jesus Christ then we will become a "worm" or of no reputation...this was a hard one for me because I could not image being a worm...the only defense a worm has is his mouth...and if my mouth is going to be my defense then I must learn the "worm road" or road of humility...ouch a hard one for I was told many times over " Take up for yourself for if you don't no one else will "....
Psalm 22:6 " But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people."
Because of the depth of my commitment to Christ I have been rejected, scorned and verbally abused. For the most part they say, you are not any fun now, just last week I was called a Bible Thumper ...PTL..... my LIGHT must be shining ! :0)
Well this is not exactly in keeping with your blog posting's subject but I thought of the most recent "sayings" that have been applied to me and thought I would share ....PTL I am a Bible Thumper!
