We were reminded yesterday of how Jesus appeared to Thomas...
"doubting Thomas"...
and had to prove to him that He was really Jesus, raised from the dead!!!
In John 21:1-23 we read about how Jesus appeared to some of the disciples by the Sea of Tiberias, or the Sea of Galilee.
Remember the story???
Peter and the others were fishing....and I've always loved how Peter worded what he was doing
"I go a fishing"...sounds kinda like how I talk!!!
Anyway....they fished all night and caught nothing....but when Jesus (and they weren't aware of who He was at the time) told them to cast their net on the right side of the boat, they caught so many fish they weren't able to even haul all of them into their boat!!
When the disciples got to the shore, Jesus was already cooking their supper!!!
Do you ever just shut your eyes and try to imagine something?
Close your eyes and try to imagine yourself sitting there on that sea shore and watching Jesus fix supper for you!!!!
How I wish I had been there. I know, as a woman, that probably wouldn't have happened, or even been appropriate in that day....but I wish I could have eaten fish and hush puppies
(okay, I know that's a bit of a stretch)....
fish and bread prepared and served by Jesus' very own hands!!!!
Here's the account of what happened days later:
Matthew 28:16-20 (KJV)
"The Great Commission".
It was Jesus' instructions not only to His disciples, but to us today, too!!! I'm not sure that I had ever noticed the part of this scripture that says,
"but some doubted".
How could they still have their doubts?
Jesus had appeared to them and they could see the scars in His hands and His feet, and He even let Thomas feel the scar in His side....yet some still "doubted"....they just weren't sure!!!
Would I have possibly felt the same way, living in that day and time??? What if something similar happened to us today, how would we react???
I know that so many people, even today, find it so hard to understand the account of the Easter story and how the death of one man could impact the entire world!!!
Do I understand it all???
Of course not!!!
But, do I believe it???
I sure do!!!
Each of us...no matter our ethnic background, our financial status, our level of education...each of us have an obligation to share the gospel with others. We can all share what Jesus has done for us with others...
and never, ever be shy about it!!!
I think we need to "brag" on our Jesus!!!

Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted. And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
