I can't even begin to explain what watching the following video does to me....to my emotions....how it breaks my heart!!! As much as we say that if we had been the only one who needed "saving", that Jesus would have gone to the cross for just one of us....I have to realize that I helped to drive those nails. One of the scenes shows a Roman soldier beating Jesus with the "cat of nine tails", and it shows his flesh being ripped....and the soldier is getting so much pleasure from what he's doing to our Jesus. But, if I think about it, am I any better than that cruel man doing that to Jesus?
Am I????
The past few weeks have been very, very emotional ones for me as I've studied and researched and prayed and thought so much about Jesus' last few days before His death. As much as it hurt me to watch my Jesus being beaten....I also cried at His tenderness as He washed the feet of His disciples!!!
That scene always gets to me.
Do you think He's changed any since then?
Do you think that His heart became hardened against those who mistreated Him during His time here on earth?
Would mine....would yours?
Remember what Jesus said from the cross:
"Father...forgive them...for they know not what they do"
Even right in the midst of all His pain....He was thinking of others!!!
I have chills running up my arms as I type this....I become overwhelmed sometimes with such emotion as to how much He loves me.
How could it even be???
How could one person who has suffered so much and been treated so terribly....still have so much love inside Him for others???
Because.....that's our Jesus.....that's our Lord!!!
If you don't know Him....if you're searching for somebody to love you and who looks beyond something that you've done that you think can never be forgiven....search out and find Jesus.....meet Him there where He's standing with those strong arms spread wide to welcome you. Lean your head on His shoulder and let Him comfort you....but, more importantly, forgive you.
Tomorrow is Sunday....
what better time to find a church of your choice
(and you are always welcome at ours)....
and if you have questions, seek out a Pastor, a deacon, even a church member who can help lead you in the right direction to make a HUGE change in your life!!!!
Or....just find yourself a Bible.....start reading about Jesus, about His life on earth, about the miracles He performed....but most importantly about the love He showed EVERYBODY!!!!
You'll never be sorry that you accepted Jesus into your heart!!!
Admit to Him that you've sinned and are in need of forgiveness.....
Believe that He died on that cruel cross and rose again, just for you.....
Confess Jesus as Lord of your life.

Completely Free by Big Daddy Weave
Broken and poured out for the love of His creation
God paid a debt that He didn't owe
Bearing my pain for not one was His equal
And wearing my shame so that I could know him
He gave us all He had to give
So that we could truly live
So let's give all we have to Him
So that we can be completely free
And as they placed the thorns on His brow
As they drove the nails into His hands and His feet
He looked past the moment
To where we are now
And gave us the victory
From what seemed His defeat
He said here's my body
It’s broken in two
Here is my blood let it cover you
All that I have is now yours to receive
Payment in full so that you could be free
Oh without a doubt completely
So that we can be completely free
In His Most Precious Love....and with mine!!!

Deb,
ReplyDeletethis is so good! I am reminded of the scripture where Jesus confessed that he came for this rejection, he came for this brutality, he came for this Cross....
John 12:47" And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world."
We were a part of that world...and I am as you, grateful for the Mercy and Grace I found by the way of the Cross.
