....heat up a hot dog!!!When my friend and I went thru the Bible study, "The Lord's Table", we learned to listen to the Holy Spirit prompting us. My mentor told me some funny stories about how she would drop a fork full of food, and things like that happening, when she really didn't need to take another bite!!! Well....I want to share a couple of things that have happened to me. Now....if you look at me you wonder if I lost any weight at all, and yes, I did, but I will admit here and now that I've gained almost 10 lbs back....and I'm upset over that....and I cannot wait until the weather fairs up so I can start my morning walking again. I'm missing it very badly...:(But...back to "funny" things happening:One night I made Pappy some cinnamon rolls...you know those "Grand" cinnamon rolls that have about 300 + calories each....those Cinnabon cinnamon rolls???? OH, they are sooooo good. Well, I'm really bad about making something under the pretense they are for Pappy....who am I fooling, right???? I'm going to indulge just as much as he does in what he calls "sweet treats"!!! Well, I picked me out one of the gooiest ones in the bunch...and guess what happened. I dropped it...and it slid down the outside of the oven door, and hit the floor. I honestly had to laugh out loud...even while I was cleaning that gooey mess off my oven door!!!!!Then....one day last week....I had already eaten lunch and knew I didn't need anything else....but I haven't felt "up to snuff" lately and thought that it would be okay...since I wasn't feeling well...to eat a hot dog...you know how we use food for comfort...to make ourselves feel better!!! Now, like I said, I had already had my lunch....plus a little indulgence that I shouldn't have had....so I got my hot dog and placed it in the microwave. Now...prior to this, I had been cleaning out my sewing/craft room and I had a tape measure hanging around my neck that I had came across in a basket. "What's that got to do with anything"?, you might be asking...just hold on...I'm getting there. As I was warming my hot dog, I had the TV on, and there was a commercial about how spare tires come in handy, unless they're around your waist....and about how big your waistline should be. So...since I had the tape measure right there at hand, I decided to measure my waistline. Needless to say, the hot dog went back into the fridge and I went back to cleaning!!!!
This same day that the incident with the hot dog happened....one of my daily devotionals that day dealt with this very same topic. A fellow had said he wouldn't eat anything, just get something to drink, when he went out to eat with a friend at a cafeteria. A piece of cake kept calling his name, so he got the cake....then, "accidentally" dropped it and stepped on it!!!
You cannot convince me that it was an "accident"....no way....it was God's way of taking something away from him that he did not need!!!

Sometimes, the way to escape doing something that we know we shouldn't be doing in the first place...might just be a bit comical....but....I truly believe that God works in all kinds of ways...even if He has to use humor.
By the way....I had never seen that particular TV commercial before...and may never see it again...but the Holy Spirit got His point across!!!
1 Corinthians 10:13 (NLT)
The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.
In His Love...and with mine!!!

Haven't checked your blog for over a week and this morning I just felt compelled to read it. Now I know I need to lose weight but I figure I can bluff it for a bit longer. But you will never guess what Bible passage jumped out to me this morning and it wasn't even on my reading plan 1 Corinthians 10:13. I guess I'm being told to get my act together.

Too funny, but I always have said and I stick to it, that God does have a sense of humor and He knows exactly when to show it. I know He makes my day when He shows me funny things and gets me out of the blahs!
