Remember the song "Manic Monday", by the Bangles? It has some lyrics that aren't too nice, because it sounds like this young lady certainly didn't spend her Sunday in church...but...here is the chorus to that song:
It's just another manic Monday
I wish it was Sunday
'Cause that's my fun day
My I don't have to run day
It's just another manic Monday.
So...I have a question for you all....how many of you...even though your calendar says differently....how many of you consider Monday the first day of the week?!?!?!
You know what...me, too...until a few years ago!!!
And, if you don't...if you consider it to be Sunday...which it is...then, good for you!!!
How many of you dread Monday's????
When I "worked", I used to start dreading Monday morning sometime on Sunday afternoon/evening!!! I used to work with a lady years ago in Knoxville who actually got physically sick every Sunday evening dreading coming to work Monday morning....now, that is sad....I never had it that rough!!! My only dread for Monday's these days is that Pappy won't be home with me, and he has to go back to work on Monday morning!!!
Here is what I'm leading to...when you start realizing that Sunday is actually the first day of the week...and you spend your Sunday drawing closer to God...then, Monday isn't so bad. I actually woke up yesterday morning with the fact that "this is the first day of the week" on my mind!!
Mark 16:2 (NKJV)
Very early in the morning, on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb when the sun had risen.
Very early in the morning, on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb when the sun had risen.
I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD.
Can you worship the Lord without going to church?
Sure you can...but...when Sunday morning comes, what better place to be on the first day of the week, than filling up on the Lord to get you ready for another week.....being with fellow believers...listening to your Sunday school teacher teach a lesson that she/he has studied and God has given her/him the words to say...same goes with the pastor preaching a sermon that God has put on his heart to share with the congregation...and the music...oh, me, oh, my...all of you know what music does for my soul!!!! I got all happy yesterday morning when they sang "I Know My Redeemer Lives"!!! I told Pappy Saturday evening....how said it is for me to think that there are people in the world who go day to day to day and never experience the feeling of joy that ONLY GOD can give!!! Isn't it amazing?!?!? Sometimes I get so full that I just wish all of the joy He's filling me with would just spill over onto every single soul I come in contact with so they can share in it, too!!!!
So that they can get a little taste themselves...and want more!!!!
Praise His Name!!!!
So....let's all try to make our Sunday's....the first day of the week....a day spent doing nothing but enjoying it as The Lord's Day...a day of rest...and speaking of rest...that's another thing I look forward to about my Sunday's...my NAP!!!
P.S...this is another one of those blogs that I actually wrote on Sunday afternoon...then, Pastor Dallas brought out a couple of times in his evening message about Sunday being the first day of the week.
Thank you, Dear Lord, for your confirmations!!!
You are AWESOME!!!
In His Love...and with mine!!!
What a good thought about Sunday, and the necessity of starting our week with our hearts and mind centered on Him. And how wonderful that He puts thoughts in our heads and confirms them to us through others.
