I've read several things lately about fasting.....and, I wasn't searching for "fasting", I just happened upon the articles....so....you know me....I took it as a sign!!! I read a very interesting article that gave several different benefits of fasting. I heard Dr. Liner, our wonderful interim pastor, speak about fasting. Fasting is something that I wasn't at all familiar with until a few years ago. And, even then, I don't think I did it "right"...if there is a right and a wrong way....or, maybe I didn't do it for the right reasons.
But............
I truly feel the Lord speaking to me about something.......the shape our country is in. I am no economist....I'm not a political person....but, I do know that our Lord will only look upon sin for so long before He does something about it. Look what He did to Sodom and Gomorrah. Are we living any better today than they were? No...things are much worse today....and even in AMERICA!!! Do we think that we are above God intervening and showing us that He is still God...that He is still in control....that He expects our attention....and our RESPECT!!!
It's time as Americans that we turn back to God...while there is still time....that we give Him our hearts....that we go to Him fasting, weeping, mourning....and praying!!!
I am asking each of you...my faithful blog readers....to join me in going to the Lord in prayer for our country....for our leaders....for the decision makers....for those overseas defending our country....for this tough economic time we're living in. Please pray for our churches....for our pastors and youth leaders and Sunday School teachers....pray for our family members.....pray for each other that we will each do our part....to bring this country to its knees in asking God to forgive us.....while there is time!!!
Today just maybe just the "right" day to fast and pray for our country and its leaders. Today they will be voting on the economic buy-out...lots of pros and cons. So many people put their trust in the government, their wealth, etc; Jesus is the only one who can truly buy-out this situation...He did that many years ago on the Cross. I pray that our Christian brothers and sisters will pray II Chronicals 7:14 and realize the promise in just that one verse. Then I want them to live Deuteronomy 4:29.
