One day's crosses and one day's tasks
I try to shoulder these, Lord, for that is all you ask.
Day by day, I pray that I may hear You and then heed
Your whisper in my soul to find strength I need.
At every moment, may I seize the "present" of this day.
Let me not regret the past, or worry today away.
A trial, I know, may simply be a blessing in disguise,
So help me look for miracles right before my eyes.
Time will tell the pattern which You weave with love divine.
Grant that I may help create Your grand and glorious design.

This poem is on a ceramic cross that sits in my kitchen window. It was given to me on my 50th birthday by a dear friend. I went back and re-read this poem one morning this week. It reminds me a little of my Mom. I hear her say often that she really tries to just take one day at a time. I've written before how so many times I live way down the road in the future, instead of taking one day at a time. The Bible tells me not to do that. I found this verse of scripture in Proverbs, and I think I need to claim it as mine...just like I have so many other verses of scripture!!!
Proverbs 27 (NKJV)
Do not boast about tomorrow,
Do not boast about tomorrow,
For you do not know what a day may bring forth.
So...I hope that if any of you have this same problem, of being concerned about tomorrow...instead of taking the time to enjoy today...that this poem and this scripture will mean something to you, too...just like it spoke to me!!!
In His love...and with mine!!!
i love your bird on the side!
