I love old sayings...just love 'em!!!
My Mammie (that's what we called my grandmother...my Dad's Mom) used to say "that's that about that"...meaning "enough said"!!! I used that saying while talking to a fellow I used to work with and he thought it was so cute...he used it a lot after that, too. You know that phrase can be used in a lot of ways. Mammie would tell us a little story, then she would say and "that's that about that"!!! You can use it when you're talking to your kids....you know what I mean...I told you "NO" for the hundreth time, and "that's that about that"!! Okay, I know none of you ever, ever have to holler at your kids...or grandkids, so you probably won't use it on your children!!!
But...you know what it also reminds me of...what were Jesus' words from the cross?
When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost."
John 19:30 (KJV)
....in other words...."that's that about that".
I read, or heard...sometimes I read and listen to so much it gets difficult to remember where it came from....anyway....I read/heard that wouldn't it have been amazing to have been at the foot of the cross and heard the words that Jesus had to say while on the cross....that even from the cross He continued to minister to us...to those there at the time and to us today. Remember, he accepted one of the thieves into His kingdom when he "said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.
Luke 23:43 (KJV).
So..out of curiosity, I looked up what words Jesus had to say from the cross, and here they are:
Luke 23:34 (KJV)
Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.
Luke 23:43 (KJV)
And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee,
Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.
Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.
John 19:26-27 (KJV)
When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.
Matthew 27:46 (KJV)
Matthew 27:46 (KJV)
And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? That is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
John 19:28 (KJV)
John 19:28 (KJV)
After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.
John 19:30 (KJV)
John 19:30 (KJV)
When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
Luke 23:46 (KJV)
Luke 23:46 (KJV)
And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.
.....and....that's that about that!!!
In His love...and with mine!!!
.....and....that's that about that!!!
In His love...and with mine!!!
