"Future tripping"
I didn't coin this phrase, but heard it explained a few days ago....and I really like it.
Future tripping is taking a trip into the future and playing a scene out in your mind as to what if such and such took place. When we do that, all of the emotions come with it as if it's actually happening. The part that really struck me....is that God isn't there when we future trip. It can also be called "worry". Now, I'm sure none of you reading this have ever been guilty of worrying....no.....not any of us!! Yeah, right!!!
Most women worry....most mothers worry.....most men don't have to worry because they have a woman doing it for them!!! Sorry, couldn't help but make that little comment!!!
But...back to topic....if God isn't in our future trip, then why do we want to go there.
I have always loved the following verse of scripture. If our peace is "upon Him", then why worry??? When we worry...or "future trip", the emotion we're feeling is definitely not peace!!!! This is the part that really touches my heart: "and with his stripes we are healed"!!! AMEN!!!
Isaiah 53:5 - But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
my hubby tells me all the time that i get myself worked up over nothing. i find myself doing the same thing. thinking about something that hasn't even happened, and my emotions run wild. how funny. . .future tripping. i'll have to remember that.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right tripping over the what if... Guilty of this for sure. My husband said he do not think about the what if. He saids I deal with it has it arises. I think that's why God gave me a man like Adam he does not worry about anything. Myself well I worry about everything and everyone I think I can fix everyone problems and then some.

Pappy used to tell me I just looked for things to worry about...so, it looks like we're 3 for 3...our hubbies just let us do the future tripping...but, all 3 of us need to just quit it...most of the time what we worry about doesn't even happen anyway, or works out much better than we had ever planned...God's like that, you know!!!
